Winter Wonderland Wish List
Danielle Call
I love traveling in the summer when the sun is out and cities are bustling, but there are some places that need to be seen in winter for you to experience their true beauty. These are some of the places that I am longing to go for a winter getaway! Fair warning: festive lighting and a dusting of snow are my reasons for all of these places :) #seekerchallenge
Vienna, Kitzbuhel, Neuschwanstein Castle, Lake Bled, Lapland, Grindelwald, Stavanger, Bruges, Baden-Baden, Strasbourg, Lucerne

Kitzbuhel, Austria

I would love to visit this ski resort in the winter! This area spans two provinces in Austria, and what better way to experience it than from the slopes, or on a ride of one of the many cable cars and gondolas!

Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany

Straight out of a Disney fairytale, seeing this castle and the surrounding area covered in a fresh blanket of snow sounds perfectly magical!

Lake Bled in Bled, Slovenia

Surrounded by mountains with trails for skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding, Lake Bled is a perfect home base for a winter getaway.

Some people may think it's crazy to travel to Finland in the winter, but I think it's the ideal time! What better way to experience the arctic circle than to meet a reindeer or go dogsledding?!

Grindelwald, Switzerland

Along with the lights and the snow, I also like to snowboard (while my husband ski's) and would love the chance to experience some of the ski towns in Europe like this one.

Stavanger in Stavanger, Norway
- mustangdmv
A modern "city" with old world charm. Stavanger is an adorable port city that can act as the perfect gateway to some of Norway's more northern fjords and towns.

Bruges in Bruges, Belgium

Christmas Markets, medieval architecture, and historic canals, this UNESCO World Heritage site is high on my list of places to visit in the winter. Since Belgium is known for spectacular chocolate, warming up with a hot chocolate at one of the many cafes is a must!

Baden-Baden, Germany

Another location to wander through Christmas markets under the warm glow of lights and shimmering snow.

Strasbourg, France

Something I have always wanted to do is visit the Christmas markets in France and Germany! Along with the beautiful lights, I would love to wander around looking at all the beautiful hand crafted items sipping on a delicious warm wassail!

Lucerne in Lucerne, Switzerland

I love winter and snow, and being able to visit this medieval town in winter and explore the culture and architecture while it's covered in festive lights and a fresh blanket of snow is the ultimate dreamy winter vacation!

Christmas markets, baroque architecture and a historic past, this capital city looks stunning covered in a blanket of snow.
